Daniel Kuhn

Daniel Kuhn, MSW

Daniel Kuhn is the Director of the Professional Training Institute for the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, based in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a master's degree in social work at the University of Illinois in Chicago and is a licensed clinical social worker. He has been active in the fields of health care and aging with several organizations in his native Chicago for the past 35 years. Dan routinely gives presentations on family caregiving and dementia care issues at local and national conferences. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 books, book chapters, articles, training manuals, and videos. His most recent book co-authored with Jane Verity is The Art of Dementia Care. Dan was the recipient of the 2009 Mental Health and Aging Award by the American Society on Aging. He is currently principal investigator of a research project involving palliative care for people with advanced dementia.

Pam Ashton, LSW

Pam Ashton has been Director of Social Services at Monticello Assisted Living & Healthcare for more than twenty-one years, and has also held the position of Memory Care Facilitator for Monticello Assisted Living & Healthcare's Auguste's Cottages for the past three years.

She has extensive training in dealing with residents with dementia and Alzheimer's, and feels it is very important to educate staff, residents, families and the community in these areas. She has held training sessions for law offices, fire departments, and was a featured speaker for the Alzheimer's Care Coalition "Community Conversations" held in Monticello, IN during this past winter. Pam is very active in the community, has hosted Alzheimer's support groups, and is always very willing to assist anyone who calls with questions or concerns. Pam's extensive experience in memory care, along with a big heart for those experiencing memory challenges, continues to be a huge resource for the community.

Suzan Windnagel

Suzan Windnagel is the co-founder of Circle of Friends. The Circle offers creative programs for people with memory loss as well as respite, education and support for caregivers.

Before founding Circle of Friends, Suzan cared for her husband who had early on-set Alzheimer's disease. She considers this eight year "caregiving career" with Travis to have been the most challenging and rewarding experience of her life. Suzan also spent over twenty years as a human resource executive in the financial and behavior health fields.

Jan Woltz

Jan Woltz has been a dementia support group facilitator for 10 years and has attended numerous training sessions and conferences to expand her knowledge of dementia and caregiving issues. She was a member of the original committee to form the West Central Indiana Resource District for the Alzheimer's Association. In addition, she has been a caregiver to her father who had Alzheimer's and to a mother-in-law who had vascular dementia. She now works for Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs as an Information and Referral Specialist and as a Family Caregiver Assistance program assistant.
